Celebrity Big Brother Season 2 concludes with 3.8M viewers

The second season of Celebrity Big Brother came to an end last night with a historic moment but not everyone tuned in to watch.

An average of 3.8 million viewers watched Tamar Braxton become the first ever African American winner in Big Brother US history in the show’s season finale on Wednesday night.

That number is down from the 5.2 million who watched the season one finale when Marissa Jaret Winokur defeated Ross Matthews to take the crown. Year on year, the season two finale was down 15 percent from season one.

Overall, the season averaged 4.4 million viewers and a 1.0 demo rating. That’s slightly down from the season one average of 5 million viewers and a 1.2 demo rating.

The big question is will CBS renew the show for a third celebrity edition. While we’ll have to wait for the official word, I would be surprised if it was not brought back. The network knows this edition is just a month long and an alternative to other shows. I do feel it may not be an annual thing moving forward if the ratings continue to go down.

Until then, stick with Big Blagger for the latest.

Big Brother returns to CBS this summer for its 21st season.
