And so we finally have a winner. After an action packed finale, Taylor made history, scooping the $750,000 grid prize and becoming the first Black woman to win the US non-celeb edition of the game! But that wasn’t the only record she set last night, more on that later.
The evening started off with the first of 3 parts of the final HoH comp; the most important of the season.
In a comp called “Weinerpalooza”, the final 3 remaining houseguest had to hang on to oversized hot dogs as they spun in the backyard. The winner would be the houseguest who could hold on the longest. Taylor fell first at the 37 minute mark, leaving Monte and Turner to battle it out. Monte held out just 10 minutes more, meaning Turner secured victory in the first part of the vital HoH comp. This also meant he advanced straight to Part 3, leaving Monte and Taylor to battle it out in Part 2.
Part 2 was called “Festival Lineup” – This comp saw Monte and Taylor battle it out to match billboards to license plates with the names of comps from throughout the season. They then had to place the Veto and HoH comps in the order that they occurred throughout the season. But it wouldn’t be Big Brother if there weren’t a few red herrings thrown in to throw the houseguest off the scent! The houseguest to complete the puzzle correctly in the fastest time would win Part 2 and advance to Part 3 to battle it out against Turner to become the final HoH of the season.
With a time of 6 minutes and 21 seconds, Monte narrowly edged out in front of Taylor who completed in 7 minutes and 4 seconds, and therefore Monte won the 2nd part of the final HoH.
In the 3rd and final part of the ultimate HoH battle of the season, Turner took on Monte in a comp called “Jury Fest” – for this part, houseguests went head to head in 8 rounds where they were given 3 statements from different members of the jury. To score a point, they had to identify which of the statements was false. The rounds played out as follows:
- Round 1: Both score a point
- Round 2: Both score a point
- Round 3: Both score a point
- Round 4: Both score a point
- Round 5: Both score a point
- Round 6: Monte scores a point
- Round 7: Both get it wrong.
- Round 8: Monte scores a point
At the end of 8 rounds, Monte is named final HoH of the season with 7 points to Turner’s 5 points, securing his spot in the F2 and handing him the power to choose who he goes up against in the final jury vote.
After telling Turner that his resume is missing a big game move, Monte chooses to evict him and take Taylor to the final 2.
After some Q&As with the final 2 houseguests, the jury casted their votes as follows:
- Turner voted for: Monte
- Brittany voted for: Taylor
- Alyssa voted for: Taylor
- Michael voted for: Taylor
- Terrance voted for: Taylor
- Kyle voted for: Taylor
- Indy voted for: Taylor
- Jasmine voted for: Taylor
- Joseph voted for: Taylor
This meant by a vote of 8-1, Taylor secured her spot in history, becoming only the second houseguest ever to win the show, having lost both parts of the final HoH!
But the night wasn’t done yet, Taylor set another record just moments later, becoming the first houseguest in the history of the show to walk away with the grand prize, as well as being voted America’s Favourite Houseguest!
This means Taylor walked away with an additional $50,000, taking her total winnings to a whopping $800,000.
And with that, out season is complete! Thank you to everyone who’s followed along with us, we’ll be back for BB25 next summer (assuming there isn’t a surprise CBB) and we’ll of course be covering the return of our beloved BBUK over on Big Blagger UK.
All that’s left to say is; Thanks for watching, “and remember – love one another!”
